SilenX 92mm good idea for SP-97?

Post by TRC-13 » Fri Jul 02, 2004 10:39 am

I just purchased a Thermalright SP-97 to replace my noisy/poor performance Zalman CNPS6000-Cu for my XP 3200+ CPU.

I’d like to get a good fan that moves some air through the new heat sink and do so with low noise. Good cooling is a must since I am Folding 24/7 with this box. Does anyone have the SilenX SX-092-14 92mm fan with this HS/fan combination?

I’m using an Antec SLK3700AMB case with two 120mm fans for good/quiet airflow.

I am open to any input or suggestions for other fans.

I've read that they're bad for heatsinks because they have bad static pressure, but they can't be too bad because they're used in power supplies. I have never used one, however, so I can't be sure.

Hi,

I am currently using a 92mm silenx fam on my Zalman CNPS6500B-ALCU
CPU heatsink and have had no problems. Silenx fan runs a lot quieter than the Zalman fan supplied with the heatsink. CPU temps with the Silenx fan are 29C idle and about 42C under load. Hope this helps.

Are there any other suggestions for a 92mm to top an SP-97?

Any tried and true stories?

Panaflo 92mm. 42 cfm and 27 dba. That seems to be the choice of most.

I have a 92mm 14dba SilenX on my SP97.

2500@3200 1.7volts gives me 40 idle, 48 load
