Please review the SilenX

Post by Twill » Wed Oct 06, 2004 10:54 am

I know there is a lot of bad blood and getting reviewed here is a privaledge which the owner has probably foregone, but please, can you at some point review a SilenX fan so that we can have some bearing of real life regarding them.

At best/worst depending on your view, we will find out how bad they are or on the flip side we might find that they are a worthwhile product that just has crappy biz practices.

Please, for the sanity of those who dont know if they should believe "the ratings are lies" or "these are the quietest fans I've ever heard"

Thanks, from someone who doesnt post much but has been greatly helped by SPCR.

I sent a 80mm SilenX 14dba fan to Mike C for the "Great Fan Roundup." So it must be in the works.

There is a lot of anger over here too (Whirlpool = local Australian forum):

I certainly would agree they don't come close to pushing the air they claim to. However, I have said this many times in this forum, and will continue too, I have had PAPST 8412N/2GMLE's (rated at 19 dBa) and Panaflo Low's, and the SilenX's are quieter. The Papst were right there in air noise (or lack of), but they were buzzy. My 92mm Acoustifan is louder then my 92mm SilenX.

I would go along with saying SilenX probably does not provide RPM monitoring because the fans do not spin to spec.

I am looking foward to Mike putting one of their fans through the ringer.
