Silicon washers or gasket?

Post by kie » Tue Nov 16, 2004 12:32 am

Which is better for fan vibrational silencing?

AcoustiFan: Anti-vibration 92mm Fan Gasket
or
AcoustiFan: Anti-Vibration Gel Fan Mounts

(I don't think the EAR grommets are available in the UK)

Seeing as I will be using a decent fan, do I even need these?
(Will be going into a Shuttle, 92mm fan)

I have no experience with those fan mounts, but IMO fan gaskets are a joke. Fans are still able to transfer vibration to the case through the screws, rendering the gaskets useless. So I'd go for the fan mounts.

As an alternative you can always use the Bluefront zip tie method, or use pieces of foam for a ghetto look, etc etc. Do a search on these terms and you're bound to find a good solution.
