My brother bought the exact last one from computergeeks. I told him about it, and he got in. One good thing is they refresh their website instantly. I did the "punch f5 furiously" thing and lo and behond, 5 seconds after my brother said he submitted the order, they put up a sold out declaration.

Yeah I checked them Neil, however it will be over $10 more from the cheapest of those suppliers after shipping. I do have 2 Globe 120mm's ready for my new BQE whenever I get it all finished, so I'll just wait and see if they get more in stock. It was more of an impulse buy anyways

I went ahead and ordered 2 of the LED models. Looks like they'll be decent, at least i'm hoping it's better than the one in the OCZ Modstream

I wanna know how the LED fans do too... Looking for LED fans, and that place ships anywhere, that is good news for me!!

I'll post my experience with them when I get them, still no shipping confirmation yet on my order.

I received my orange yate loons yesterday, everything indicates these are EXACTLY identical to nexus 120mm from what I can tell (except the obvious...price and stickers). Compared to Panaflo 120mm (both the L1A and the OEM one with the unusual blade design they sometimes sell on ebay) these are FAR quieter and are the quietest 120mm fan I've heard at 12v. They will start up consistently at zalman fanmate 1's minimum setting (5v I think) and are very smooth sounding with very minimal bearing noise. Although the minimum startup voltage is nothing to brag about, it is important to note it is quieter at the minimum startup voltage and can undervolt like a champ. I use my sunbeam rheobus to go below 5v and I've never turned the dial so low and still have a 120mm fan continue to spin. I unfortunately can't tell you what the voltage is, but its about 12:30 on the sunbeam dial. At the 12:30 position (minimum spinning voltage) the vibration amounts are very low. Of course, at this low speed they don't push much air, but they do push some air and I suspect it would do well in ducted situations.

I have 3 samples and they all perform identically. Quiet consistent undervolting champs and also one of the cheaper 120mm fans on the market (thanks to this find!). Come with both 3 pin and 4 pin connectors with pass through, plastic fan frame, truly a reference 120mm fan! Great find! Only weaknesses are closed corners and orange color (IMHO). I think most SPCR users don't have a window on their case anyway! corners can be modded away to be used with EAR mounting grommets. I'm thinking of melting it away with a soldering iron

Compugeeks VERY fast with fedex ground to SF, CA. Order placed Jan 4th after hours Shipped Jan 5th received Jan 6th.

I got my two Yate Loon 120mm fans today -- I ordered them Monday, and just got the Ground FedEx.

Ken has already summed them up -- I have not been able to undervolt them yet, They *do* run faster and blow more air than the Nexus version -- and they make a soft 'hmmm' at 12 volts (blade noise), and the air flow is audible, and there is just a touch of bearing noise (at least I think it's the bearings). One has ever so slightly more bearing noise than the other, but it seemed to fade slightly as it ran for a couple of minutes. I only ran them in free air.

The PS I used to run them is a Fortron Source, and I put it down on the floor to get it as far away as possible. These are certainly the best value going, by far, but the Nexus is quieter, but it also blows less air.

Interesting! isellsurplus has them for $6.99 today, and their shipping seemed reasonable. $5 ground for me. Came to $9.48 each.

Very interesting. Last I checked they were almost twice that.

Their resellerratings seemed descent enough, so I went ahead and ordered two. Total was $18.97 after shipping.

i also bought 3 from them, it should be here quick, it USPS priority shipping, 3 days max. we'll see. this is actually a pretty good price

I forgot to mention but I ran mine at 12v for about 8 hours before trying the listening tests, just to warm them up and break in the bearings if that sort of thing exists for fans.

Good point -- I'll bet they do change a bit in the first few hours. Sleeve (aka oilite?) bearings are going to smooth out their inner surface, and get into better alignment -- and probably get a little quieter. This kind of bearing is used in slot cars, and they do have a brief break in time.

FWIW...These fans are back in stock at Compgeeks again.

For two orange 120s, four blue LED translucent 120s, two aluminum 80s and four black plastic 80s in; there's something peculiar going on with the 80s and I haven't yet gotten around to testing them yet, but the orange 120s are identical to the Nexus 120s, and the blue translucent LED 120s are also very, very good, with the advantage of being able to spin at higher speed if necessary while still remaining relatively quiet and extremely smooth, not to mention being some of the nicest LED fans I've ever seen, by far, with a wonderful blue glow that permeates the translucent casing quite nicely and provides a soft blue glow to the area around it without being overwhelmingly bright at all.

I'll test the 80s later on, probably tonight, but for today I'm going to concentrate on getting the CES pics done up first.

Including shipping to canada, these are still cheaper than buying nexus fans...just got two for a dual 120 rad shuttle watercooling project Now to scrounge up the other parts for cheap :-p
