Is my AC NV Silencer 5 Rev.3 blowing the right way?

Post by TailsNZ » Wed Feb 15, 2006 4:15 pm

I've installed the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Rev.3 to my Gigabyte 6800 GT, only the old fan connector was extremely hard to remove from the video card. I got it out and thought everything was ok, but I must have somehow damaged the fan connector (looks fine but doesn't go anymore).

Anywho, so I stripped the wires from the Arctic Cooler cable and a 2 pin to 4 pin Molex adapter... twisted them together and it goes. Phew!

I remember some reports about early Rev.3 models having the polarity wrong on the cables though, and I bought this when it first came out in the states. The fan blows clockwise, and I can feel cool air above the fan and out the PCI space at the end. The cool air seems stronger above the fan though.

Does that sound right? Or should I connect the cables the other way around? (I really don't know much about this stuff, will it damage the fan if they were wrong?)

Thanks!

I'm looking at mine right now, and yes, clockwise is correct.
