I've got a crazy question for you folks: which is the better fan choice
Delta AHB1548GHG 48V 5200rpm 402.72 cfm 49.88 mmH20 68.5 dBa
or
Delta EHB1548EHG 48V 5200rpm 374.62 cfm 43.27 mmH20 68.5 dBa
Its for a new higher end computer that I will be starting to build in the very near future. These would be ducted to a water radiator that will be cooling a peltier water chiller as well as case air flow
Before you boot me out the door, I am hoping to use a custom built fan amp hooked up to a T-balancer to run these at significantly slower rpm
s for normal operation except when challenging [H] members. How well would these run at around 1000rpm and how would the noise & sound profile compare to Nexus 120mm fans?
Oh yeah, I was thinking of getting three!!!
Also, a better question is where would I buy three of these preferably in Canada & how much would they be?

Seems like an easy decision to me - the AHB has more fan blades and moves more air at the same RPM, same sound level, and same size. I would think the ratios would be maintained as you reduce the applied power.

Yes, I agree more blades more air at same rpm. However, wouldn't more blades = more air turbulence?
The main uncertainty I have about them is how quiet the actual motor is. With the low rpm 120mm fans, the biggest noise source is the air flow itself; with these two fan choices I am unsure as to how quietly the motor will perform. Given that these are higher end fans, I am expecting that the bearings will perform well, especially since they must be rated at such high speeds for fans of this class.
Unfortunately, next to nothing is available on the web about either of the fans.

172 mm 48 v fans? I don't know what sort of blast furnace you plan to cool but the 140 mm Aerocools that do 1000 rpm at 12 v seem like MUCH less fuss. I guess you intend to overclock something till it glows,but with watercool,even a single 140 would figure to be enough.
With the usual fans,they will go at 1/2 voltage,but here you are looking at 1/4 voltage to get to 12 v or around 1000 rpm. A 172 mm fan at 1000 will not be as quiet as a 120 or 140 at the same speed. It seems you are aiming for a lot more airflow than you need...and will get a lot of unnessecery noise. An interesting experiment if these oversize fans will go under 1000 rpm and/or run quiet. It seems unlikely.
