looks like they are discontinuing the DFS series fans at least in the EU..
I have a 1200 DFS 12cm and I like it although I am listening to
it at 5v.

Sounds like teh zalman 7x00 fan. I wonder how this is achieved.

Maybe using a PTC thermistor? Or some kind of varistor? Or maybe the LED's have a separate voltage feed.

I was thinking maybe there's a separate current split off some way for the LEDs. There's only one power connector.
