Re: Antec Big Boy 200mm fan !?
O.K. Go to the top of the page, click on "Search", the second item on the list after FAQ. Enter "200mm fan" (without the quotes) as the search term(s). Then click on the "search all terms" button. Now scroll to the bottom and click "search". Voila! Your name (well, your post) at the top of the list! Also lotsa other references to the Antec fan.cloneman wrote:Someone should teach me how to use search...
how I search for the exact phrase only? I'm getting too many results.
EDIT: My bad, I figured it out. A little ambiguous though... I would have called it "search for exact phrase"

AFAIK its not an exact phrase. it just searches for stuff with both '200mm' and 'fan'. the default searches for all posts with either '200mm' OR 'fan' (and doesn't even rank them intelligently). which is totally insane for a default.cloneman wrote:how I search for the exact phrase only? Re: I own one.
Do you know what RPM it turns or any other information about the fan?Strei Bullet wrote:I own an Antec Nine-Hundred. The Fan does come with the case.

Like all other information on this fan, Antec is keeping it secret. The only way to get the information is to buy one. The nation's security would (evidently) be at risk were this information to be revealed to the wrong person or persons!Sizzle wrote:What is the measurement between the mounting holes on the fan? Antec did release "specifications" in France. Here they are:
H: 800RPM 134CFM 30dBA
M: 600RPM 108CFM 27dBA
L: 400RPM 83CFM 24dBA
Which is a fine and admirable set of numbers. Of the three, at least two are (to use a Brit phrase) bollocks! If the RPM of a fan is halved, then the CFM is halved, and the dBA level drops ~18dBA. The official specs say the dBA level drops only 6dBA for halving the RPM!
Those are fine numbers, but they have no relationship to the actual performance of any actual fan.

3db drop is a halving of noise,,, and 6db is a 1/4 of the initial noise..
so at "H" the fan is 4 times as loud then on "L"
whats wrong with that?

6 pts is half of the volume, 3 pts is 3/4's of the volume which your ear can hear. can hear 1/2 a notch in volume difference I know that at least.
"L: 400RPM 83CFM 24dBA"
thats sick. 400 rpm's at 83 cfm??????? I just noticed this post. jeez. thats awesome could make a version that goes even slower, and like 50 cfm would be barely moving and silent.
or am i missing something

It appears there are now fans at 200,220,250 mm,including this 3 speed. This, and the clear blade 220 used by Xclio, can be had seperate at about $25. Matched to a HS that's got the fins facing the door, like the Aerocool Dominator,Coolermaster Gemini,Big Typhoon,Thermalright, etc, it is feasable to have a fan at a silent 300-400 RPM provide most of the cooling.
There are quite a few ways to layouit such a rig,I sketched up some ideas for a horizontal Mobo, Glass top coffee table homebuilt case that would be both bling and silent.. too bad I don't have the cash now....

Yah - I'm currently making a custom mATX case that uses both a 220 and a 200. Really if I hadn't already got the 220mm out of a thermaltake side panel, and I knew then what I know now. I'd have gone with two of the Antec Big Boy 200mm fans.ronrem wrote: There are quite a few ways to layouit such a rig,I sketched up some ideas for a horizontal Mobo, Glass top coffee table homebuilt case that would be both bling and silent.. too bad I don't have the cash now....
