Dell fan swap
Hi,
My Dell Dimension 5000 has this fan:
http://www.centrix-intl.com/details.asp?productid=3607
NMB-MAT DC Axial Fan 4715KL Series.
12V DC 1.30A 120mm x 38mm (4.69in x 1.50in)
3600RMP 130CFM and 50dB.
Ball Bearings with Thermoplastic Frame and Impeller.
Model: 4715KL-04W-B56 Y4574 H9073
Are there any fans which I could swap it with? I don't think there are 130CFM is pretty high, and it needs a 4-pin (not molex, but PWM) connector

Actually, this may be the BTX standard. Can't say for sure though.Jay F wrote:custom DEll MB with no holes for heatsink, and CPU mounted at 45 degrees!

It's like this one on the left:Max Slowik wrote:How does the heatsink stay attached to the CPU? Every BTX case I've played with still had a regular socket 478 or 775 heatsink mount. Can you take a picture of it?

You can see the rectangular spacing on the mounting holes

I can't think of any PC that would need a 130CFM fan. I also highly doubt it ever reaches the full speed at 50dB or you'd know about it. That's the sort of PC you have to raise your voice to speak over. If it's attached to the heatsink I don't know, but if it's in a duct, or just as a regular case fan, swap it for something less excessive. A high speed Scythe S-Flex or Medium speed Papst 4412 would do the job fine, they can produce 70CFM or so at 30dB, and that's still more than enough airflow in a case where everything's passive, let alone if it isn't.
