ZM F3 120mm MM Zalman Fan

Post by Volkswagen » Sat Jul 14, 2007 5:17 pm

I can get these localy here for $3.75 a pop including tax and I have been thinking of getting them to replace the antec tri-cools in my p182 atm....I also will pick up a Sunbeam Rheobus to controll their speeds.....The fans and controller are cheaper here localy by $10 + including tax localy and excluding shipping online.....Basicly I would run them @ 5v or less when just browsing the net and then when gaming or doing some more intensive things id crank them up a little......My question is are these fans any decent for the $3.75 id be paying for them.....Also I have a ThermalRight Ultra 120 EX and was wondering if I need to use the top exhaust fan? Any one try to run without it? And any tips for this case in general Ive seen people taping things off in the lower psu area but idk what and why

my specs are

P182 w/ Corsair HX620W PSU
Asus P5K P35 w/ Core 2 Duo E6320 @ 3200mhz @ 1.4v
Gskill HZ 2 GB DDR 800 @ 458mhz 1:1 ratio
eVga 8800GTS 320MB @ stock with a antec slot blower exhaust
WD 74 GB Raptor and 36GB Rapotr in lower chamber with the stock tri cool
Creative XF-I

My cpu temps are more then good just the system temp is arround 28-25c depending on room temp and the hdds reach 40 c sometime....

LMK what u guys think about those zalman fans

They are worse then Antec tricool. Much worse actually. They klick and growl and whatnot. Just stay away. Scythe S-Flex, Yate Loon, Noctua and Nexus is the way to go if you want quiet, high quality fans.
And you can find Yate Loons almost as cheap....

Noiseblocker Blacksilents are also good, if you can get them.

Zalman fans usually aren't that great.
