i have found another that looks more promising.

it looks exactly like the one from Petra's but it only has 3 pin connector, is it legit?

been using YL for many years, never heard of a problem with "fake" YL. looks like ChilledPC have it in stock.
I purchased 2 Yate Loons from Chilled PC (see http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/product ... cts_id=411), last month. They were dispatched quickly, with reasonable postage fees. I've got no way of telling if they're fakes, but I've got no reason to believe they are - both are keeping my server PC cool quietly as we speak!
i was really concerned because of this thread here
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/sho ... 144&page=3
it shows that the curved yate loons are much better than the straight ones. and apparently only petras sell the curved beasts which is why ive been looking at loads of uk shops to try and find them but no one has them.
even chilled pc's show the straight ones.
of you dont mind could you both check which ones you have
thanks a lot

There are 3 Yate Loon fans for sale at the bottom of this page:
http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cus ... 885&page=2
They have the 1350, 1650 and 2200 rpm models there. Quite a decent selection of other quiet fans too, notably the Scythe Kaze jyuni models and basic nexus spcr reference fan.

Wouldn't Scythe Kaze Jyuni/Slip Stream be better?

Looks just about best performing fan and also price is often very good.
(ordered whole bunch of them among other accessories from CaseKing in last week)

I've got to say I have trouble spotting the difference between the blades in the link that you posted. Here are a couple of pictures taken earlier today (sorry, I just unplugged the fan and took a picture with it in place, rather than took it out of my machine)!
Take your pick as to whether it's a 'straight' or 'curved' blade!
I hope that helps...

Scythe Jyuni's / SlipStreams are great fans in the sense they seem to have no fan-motor noise at 7v, but I reckon build quality might be a bit suspect.
I ordered 5 1200rpm ones from Petra's Tech Shop (they were sold out elsewhere!), and one of them was a dud - I could hear a ticking noise from that particular fan when it's running...
