Are Tri-Cools really *that* bad?

I got an 80mm Tricool. There's no shuffling or ticking, only bearing noise. On low (1500 RPM), compared to my 80mm 1500 RPM Nexus, the Tricool is a little louder. It may not be as quiet, but it costs less, is available everywhere, and I can speed it up at the flick of a built-in switch, something that the more expensive Nexus can't do.
