Zero case fans.
One fan on CPU is all I need. (acts like an intake fan tho)
Multi-drive storage goes in a nas far away from user space, so noise/cooling is not an issue.

2 in my main PC (used for gaming), one is a Nexus set at 5v, the other is a 1200rpm slipstream that runs between 550rpm and 950rpm automatically controlled via speedfan.

1 in my NSK1480 in the livingroom, to be honest I cant even remember what the fan is, but its pretty quiet, and not audable from my sofa before the speakers start to output sound.

3 in my 9 HDD Server, I have an Antec 1200, with the back fans removed, and the top fan disconnected, the front 3 fans have been replaced by 3 Nexus fans all running at 5v.

You have 3 fans, two exhaust and two intake? Interesting....

I have one intake that's on full speed 1200 RPM all the time. It's at the very bottom infront of the harddrives and the case is on the floor so it's not that annoying.

Then I have one exhaust at the back in the typical spot. That one is voltage controlled by the bios. While idle, it's around 650-700 RPM and when things heat up it goes up to 1200 RPM.

I think they provide sufficient airflow in my case. I can push pretty high voltages without temps skyrocketing. The case came with three fans but I haven't used the third one. No reason whatsoever.

I actually have quite a few probably compared to most, but they all run pretty slow

120mm intake PWM - 330RPM
120mm exhaust PWM - 330RPM
92mm CPU PWM - 415RPM
92mm video card (Accelero L7) - ATi software doesn't show RPM, but from what I've read idle on these is about 900RPM or so
80mm PSU - definitely the loudest fan in the system at idle, probably runs at about 1200PM. Looking to replace it with something quieter.

edit: Replaced PSU fan with an AF8025L (connected to the PSU's fan controller). Much quieter now at idle. Looks like maybe it runs at 500-ish RPM. :)

1 exhaust (Slipstream 800 @ 600 RPM), 2 intake (Nexus RS 92 @ 5v) (Antec Solo)

Game Rig:
2 exhausts, 2 intakes (GT1150 Mobo controlled exhaust usually around 500-600 rpms idle, YL-140mm Sleeve @7v exhaust and 2x 120mm Nexus RS' @ 7v) (Antec 300)

Tertiary:
1 intakes, 2 exhausts (Slipstream 800 @ 12v rear exhaust, S-flex 1200@5v top exhaust and slipstream 800 @ 12v as intake)(P182)

Zero case fans. Only one under E8400 heatsink (ninja), works partly as an exhaust fan and one noctua inside the case is cooling GF210 with passive heatsink. One in the Seasonic PSU also.

edit 19.2.2010: I got rid of those two inside the case too. So now it's only Seasonic PSU with a fan and even that is changed to Scythe s-flex. Pretty quiet.

4 case fans, 2 cpu fans(one vented out the back), and the power supply fan is noticeably louder than the others combined... don't buy an earthwatts 750, and expect to get a quiet fan :o

Nice thread!

3 fans total in my machine.
- 120mm Scythe S-Flex-F (rear exhaust)
- 120mm Scythe S-Flex-F (CPU fan, blowing air directly towards rear exhaust)
- stock fan in Seasonic power supply.

Both the Scythes are controlled from the CPU fan header on the mobo, with splitter cable. At idle they spin around 500RPM; at full CPU/GPU load they never go over 1000RPM.

Don't know RPM range for the PSU fan but it's impressively quiet.

Thanks all

ihave used a fan mate on the front s-flex to get it to run from 1250rpm to 1020rpm., I have a motherboard that supports fan control but cannot figure it out (asus) as when I select a profile the fan still stops at full speed ?

I have 3 case fans now. All 80mm Arctic Cooling F8s, 2 are behind the CPU in the normal case fan position and the 3rd is at the bottom of the case blowing out through the bottom 4 PCI slots, this is to aid cooling my GTX260.
They are controlled all at the same speed off the motherboard, idle down to 35% around 700rpm, as they are 80mm fans this is pretty quiet. Under extreme load they need to get up 1200-1500rpm, which is not quiet but with over 200w DC (under Prime 95 + Furmark) to get out the case they need to run that fast, even then I've measured exhaust temp over 40°C.
Other fans are 120mm PWM fan on the CPU, idle 400rpm up to 800-900 under maximum stress. 80mm fan in the PSU, not certain of speeds, think <600rpm idle up to 800rpm+ under load. 2x92mm fans on the GPU cooler, 600rpm idle up to 1000+ rpm under Furmark.
Even with 7 fans at idle as they are all low speed the PC is very quiet and the hard drive (Samsung 1TB F3 in SQD) is the most audible item.

Hi,

I added a poll, so that we can see a graphic of the number of fans in your system. If you've not yet done the poll, then please do so!

Main PC – 1 fan:
Exhaust fan. Sharkoon 140mm at ~500rpm [1200rpm : S140251M-3] These fans had recieved some praise and so I decided to go ahead and order two.

Wonder why. both suffer from bearing noise and will be replaced, will be trying Noiseblocker this time.

Gaming PC (P183) - 7 fans
Nexus Real Silent 120mm

The rpm levels are adjusted and controlled via two Sunbeam Rheobus fan controllers.
