CPU FAN [ERROR] PRESS F1 TO CONTINUE

Post by nyhcbri » Sun Mar 21, 2010 5:35 am

I INSTALLED A SCYTHE KABUTO ON MY ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AND AFTER ABOUT A WEEK I GET THE MESSAGE EVERY BOOT. IT'S PLUGGED IN THE CPU HEADER. ANY IDEAS?

This basically happens on Asus boards when no fan is connected to the CPU fan header, the fan is defective or the board cannot read its RPM signal for soem other reason (too high or too low). If the fan is actually working you can just turn of CPU fan RPM monitoring in the hardware monitor in BIOS or disable the the error message alltogether. There's an option somewhere in the BIOS to disable the "Press F1 to continue" when there's an error.

Turn off the caps. :p
It's probably the fan wasn't spinning. Some fans don't spin up when the voltage is too low and if you have warnings on, it'll complain about a lack of fan. You probably want to just open the case and verify that the fan wasn't spinning when the error came on.
