what type of fan control do you guys use?

It's actually closer to hardware control imo because unlike the software control, it does not depend on proper operation of the OS. IE, it will keep working even if Windows has a major glitch.

good point. I cant edit the poll now either way though

how about Bios controller users just post it up and i will keep it in consideration.

PSU/GPU fans on SpeedFan, CPU fan on mobo control, Intake/Exhaust/GPU fans 5V modded.

Ha, covered almost all the options didnt you? You have GPU fans listed as on Speedfan and 5v modded. How does that work? I didnt think most fans would spin at less than 5volts.

This is probably not unusual -- a combination of methods for different fans.

The chassis fan is usually most audible to the user and I usually connect it to the CPU fan header and use the BIOS control.

The CPU heatsink fan is connected to fixed 5V or to fixed 7V or to fixed 12V or to the CPU fan header with a Y-adapter.

Automatic BIOS control for my current system, although I've also used fixed voltage mods and rheobuses in the past. I don't like having to rely on OS-dependent software for undervolting, fan speed control, etc., so whenever possible I try to avoid that.

This is for case fans, though. PSU fan is handled by its own controller (although the fan was swapped out with a lower speed model).

Case fans - static undervolt with a on/off switch
CPU - single channel fan controller
GPU - passive

I have 2 GPU fans. Most lower speed fans have starting voltages under 5V.

CPU fan - MB BIOS silent mode
GPU fan - GPU autoregulation
PSU fan - PSU autoregulation
Case fan - with PSU fan

So everything is automagical, everything works independent of OS.

System 1:
CPU fan and rear exhaust - Speedfan
2 x front intakes - hard wired @ 5v
GPU - Catalyst Control Centre.

System 2:
CPU fan, front and top intake, rear exhaust all controlled by Asus Fan Xpert. (This may change at some point.)
No GPU in here.
Could not get Speedfan to work with Asus MB - M4A89GTD PRO for some reason...
