Noctua goes PWM with new 80mm, 92mm and 120mm models
The Noctua website is now listing PWM versions of most of the existing range:
NF-R8 PWM 80mm - rpm range 300 to 1800, or 300 to 1300 with Low-Noise Adapter (LNA)
NF-B9 PWM 92mm - 300 to 1600, or 300 to 1300 with LNA
NF-P12 PWM 120mm - 300 to 1300, or 300 to 900 with LNA
For further information see http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=produkte&lng=en#fans.
These fans are not part of the focussed flow range which currently consists only of the NF-F12 model.

They also have a focused flow NF-F12 PWM.

Re: Noctua goes PWM with new 80mm, 92mm and 120mm models
The focused flow NF-F12 is just coming on sale in the UK, and is priced at £19 which makes it one of the more expensive PWM fans on the market. However, it does come with an extension cable and Y adapter as well as the LNA, which helps offset the cost to some extent. According to Noctua the same accessories will be supplied with the non focused flow NF-R8, NF-B9 and NF-P12 PWM fans so it will be interesting to see how they are priced once available.
Re: Noctua goes PWM with new 80mm, 92mm and 120mm models
The NF-B9 is a bit of a let down airflow to noise wise. The PWM is just a version of the same one.
Really only 2 Notcua fans are worth a look the NF-S12B flex (for options all round) and the ULN 120mm version for a quiet slower speed straight out of the box fan.
I can't say I care much for the NF-R8 either
I will say this though Noctua and their sound figures don't reflect real world use

Agreed, overpriced IMO. But you're paying for them to last as well.Mr Spocko wrote:The NF-B9 is a bit of a let down airflow to noise wise. The PWM is just a version of the same one.

Re: Noctua goes PWM with new 80mm, 92mm and 120mm models
The NF-P12 PWM is very interesting:
"Low-Noise Adaptor
The NF-P12 PWM is supplied with a Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 1300 to 900rpm. The L.N.A can be used either to run the fan at a fixed speed of 900rpm or to cap the maximum speed when using automatic PWM control.
Extensive Cabling Options
The fan’s short 20cm primary cable minimises cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved and a 4-pin y-cable allows to connect a second NF-P12 fan to the same PWM fan header for automatic control."
NCIX.com has stock at some locations in Canada for CAN$ 23.99 which is a high price if you don't need the adapters. The Scythe 120mm Slip Stream Kaze-Jyuni PWM Fan is CAN$ 9.99 at memoryexpress.com

Re: Noctua goes PWM with new 80mm, 92mm and 120mm models
120mm model is interesting because it's the slowest PWM fan currently available when you put on the low noise adapter. It's good for those with aggressive motherboard fan controls. I'd love to give it a shot, but not for $24 each.
