HOW TO COOL YOUR HD EVEN MORE WITHOUT MODDING
omg, i just found out something awesome. I recently bought a Lian Li v1100b case convinced it provided the best airflow u can get. Well my hd temps were idling around 39'c a bit hotter then usual, but very confusing cause the 7200.7 hds were suppose to run cooler than the barracuda disc i got in here. Well i removed the frong 5 1/2 bay cover cause i was thinking, yea theres probably not enough airflow getting into the case, even with the front 120mm fan. then BAM 5 'c drop my hds are now running cooler, before the temps were

so awesome, now to figure out why the PATA is running so much hotter

Well I *guess* that would help. I mean, the thing is pretty much sealed except for the bottom and front bottom. Opening a drive bay would allow more air to get sucked in. That probably means you have negative pressure inside your case, which essentially means that your fans are sucking in more air than the vents on the case can provide. Thus by opening that bay, you are relieving some of that negative pressure, and thus it's sucking in air. I'd recommend putting some type of dust filter, cuz otherwise you're gunna get dust all over your insides =[
and Please, for god sakes, change your title. It's so damn annoying having all caps.

There is one discrepency about that picture, and mistake - The warm air that is rising out of the back, will get sucked back in at the top, if you use some sort of cooling setup that does suck air in through the top. Also, I am baffled at the use of that fan cover. Warm air rises, so why not have the cover just point upward?
Oh apparently the vid card would be utilising a VGA silencer...regarding the fan hole cover, i was thinking about Bluefront's venturi effect thing...i will try to test it out once i get the case in oct...oops and sorry to hijack your thread Projectacaurora wrote:There is one discrepency about that picture, and mistake - The warm air that is rising out of the back, will get sucked back in at the top, if you use some sort of cooling setup that does suck air in through the top. Hmm yeah you've got a point too...other than the front fan, i guess the other place would be the back which in the end gets hot air recirculated back into the casing. I'll do tests to see whether sealing off the back vents will improve in case airflow. Thanks!acaurora wrote:It's still going to be sucking air in through the rear. Where else is the fan from the VGA silencer going to get its air from?
