Some of the 120's have a regular 3pin connector, some have an RPM monitoring one instead.
Yep, I'm definitely about done.

Well I realize I've already taken this thread a bit afield... so I'll just keep on plowing....

I guess my bottom line is: Can I expect to use one of these fans to adjust speed with my Thermaltake Hardcano 13 (http://www.thermaltake.com/accessories/ ... cano13.htm)?

The Hardcano accepts 3 pin fan plugs. I assume I can just plug that 3 pin lead into the hardcano and be off and running (the 4 pin passthroughs being annoyances to ingore at that point).

In case you all haven't figured it out I'm cluess on the types of wires that come out of fans... maybe I should just start a post about that topic so you can educate me first... (I've done a good job reading FAQs around SPCR so if I just missed one please let me know).

My two bits here:

1) Ordered from isellsurplus, got it, but pretty slow (maybe a week until actual processing, week and half to receipt

2) I got the 120 mm Clear/Blue Fan ... I have to say ... meh ... fair. It seems kind of noisy to me, even at low speeds controlled by my MFC.

After reading through this post, I think I'll stick with Nexus.

hardcano 13

Post by frankgehry » Sat Feb 05, 2005 10:24 pm

kev,

I have a hardcano 13 too so if the clear blue fans are like the orange ones, and I'm almost positive they are, you will probably connect the long 3 pin connector cables that thermaltake supplies from the hardcano to the fan 3 pin connector and you're finished. The power for the fan will come from the hardcano which is supplied from a molex 4 pin connector from the power supply. It's real easy. Then you have the temperature sensors which you can place anywhere in you're case. If you have windows xp there is no need to load any of the software they provide. Their instructions are not very good. -FG

If you search the web for thermaltake hardcano 13 you will find a number of reviews that have better pictures and intallation intructions that the manual.

Just wanted to report I got my 10 fans from tech gems after 1 week from ordering- this is good for my location newegg often takes longer. All fans working fine and 6 chaind together at full volts are still barly audible over brackground noise and the Zalman 7000 with the case open. Good noise to output too if you do not undervolt and very little noise at lower volts- you have to hold it up to your ear to hear it though not much air moved either.

Ordered 10 from tekgems. I hope they get here soon.

I ordered 3 from isellsurplus, and they both came to the same price. I wonder which has the better deal ?:p Anyways, I have been waiting for 2 weeks from isellsurplus with no word on what's happening. I hope that tekgems has better CS!

I'll let you all know how it goes.

I have 10 on order from Tekgems also. They sent me an e-mail to confirm my order and sent me a letter in regular mail. Try getting ANY other online retailer to do that!

Edit: Fans got delivered today. 6 days after I ordered them.

The original site has these again.

Hello:

The original site that was posted at the beginning of this thread -- Geeks.com, has the Yate Loon back in stock for $8 + shipping:

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=D12SL-12

...so if you want only 1-3, then this is the less expensive way to go...it is possible that the "fatwallet" code word will still get you a 10% discount?!
and better now... use a secret code "fatwallet" for a instant 10% discount.

Is anyone who purchased 10 fans interested in selling a couple? I ordered a Nexus from NCIX but they're backordered indefinitely according to the person I just spoke with. I'd order a couple Yate Loons from one of these vendors, but shipping to Canada on a couple fans tends to be unreasonable, where friendly forum members could just mail a small package for a few bucks. Ideally I'd like two, and can paypal a reasonable sum for the fans plus cover postage. Interested parties should email the address in my profile. Thanks.

Hi y'all. :)

Try techbargains as another code. Haven't tried recently but mcexclusives is another 10% off code you can try. It may be dead by now. Coupon code will only work on some items. Won't work on geek-specials.

I would also be interested in buying a few fans from you guys who ordered 10 of them. So just reply to me if you're interested in selling me one or two of them. Thanks!

That's not the way to get to your online retailers' heart.

Oh, and Tekgems...
Welcome to SPCR!!!

They don't really keep these in stock, they just drop-ship them from their distributor. Blame the distributor (or us! )

I got my box of 10 fans from Tekgems yesterday. Two wrapped bundles of 5 fans in bubble wrap. All in perfect shape. All have "Yate Loon" embossed on the side of the fan casings. My two from geeks.com didn't have that. I only had time at work to test one out and I believe it's even smoother than the two from the geeks. I'll know more today when I go into work and break them in.

Well my reasoning was that when I had emailed them, they said this: "Hi smoothness - we are most likely sold out with no plans to re-stock at this point." Now does that mean that they won't sell them anymore, or will they just "drop-ship" them from their distributor when they get the orders?

I'm interpreting it as they are not going to buy anymore stock. Since they have chosen not to, that means that their distributor will have nothing to ship, as they have not purchased the product.

Hi, bad news. Two issues: 1) Distributor reduced available quantity, 2) Distributor order system failed when two orders for the fans were submitted. This means more orders were received than can be processed. If you received a tracking number already, your order is complete. If you have pending order, please get in touch with me privately. Again, sorry for the bad news.

DyJohnnY....I got one of the blue LED 120mm Yate Loons from CompGeeks. It runs faster than the Orange 120s, but is amazingly quiet. I'd say it is almost as quiet as the orange model when under-volted to the same RPM.

Unfortunately, when I tried it with my new VL Systems PWM fan controller, it makes bad noises at any speed. The Orange fans seem to handle PWM much better. But none of the Yate Loons is as quiet at my Globe 120s with the VL Systems fan controller. :?

This is very unfortunate,

I have went through 3 resellers and have run into this problem. Isellsuprlus, NCIX, and Tekgems (maybe?). It is very poor practice to not inform the customer about the error in the database. Both NCIX and isellsurplus did not contact me for over 2 weeks before they wrote back to me to tell me there was an error in this machine and that I have to wait until they recieve a new shipment. I emailed both of them at least 6-10 times with only 1 reply 2 weeks later. Bad CS IMO, I doubt i will over from isellsurplus or NCIX ever again.

EDIT: Just wanted to say that although there is no word on tekgems yet. It does rub me the wrong way to find out on a thread, rather than a personal email. Something which should have been looked at immediatly, but seems to be of little imporntance to tekgems not to notify the customers immediatley. Sorry for the long rant. It's been a really long 3 weeks.....

EDIT2: tekgems was good, they didn't mess up my order, but I feel sorry for those who are affected by this.

I'm assuming that if a tracking number was not issued, we are out of luck (in the case of tekgems)

This thread is getting really big, I think there should be a new thread to for the blue medium speed version, it would be hard for someone looking for info on that fan to find it in this thread. Or at least there should be a thread for all the yate loons other than the orange one.

Then again, maybe we don't want to also clean out those completely. But on the other hand, if those sell out, maybe they'll restock them all.

Hi, at this point order for nefarious will ship. It is orders from 2/8/2005 that are questionable. If customers in front of the line are willing to take smaller quantities, some orders from 2/8/2005 can be filled. Thanks.

thank you tekgems,

Glad that I wasn't one of them.

Is it hard to find out who the peolpe ordereds are questionable? Isn't it easier to send out an email to the few that are in question?

So does this mean I can still order some Yate Loon fans if I order a small amount, maybe 1 or 2? Because if I can, you can put me down for 2-4 depending on availability. Please get back in this thread if we can still get our hands on a few :)

The blue medium speed version is on sale at Geeks.com for $3.99 each (down from $7.00) until 11AM EST as part of their Sunrise Savings sale. You have to click the link for the fan through the front page to get the discounted price into your cart. 95 left currently. Just giving a heads up.

I think I'm one of these people as I received an email this morning (GMT).

I'm happy to only accept 4 (as opposed to my original order of 11), so others can get their fans.

But the people who requested that I sell on at cost price the other 7 that I didn't need, won't get theirs now - sorry :(
