AMD64 and 3700AMB, silence
Just posting some new pics of my (almost) silent rig.

I recently replaced my BFG 6800GT OC with a 9600XT for a quieter, cleaner setup and because I dont game anymore.
BTW, sorry for the so-so quality pics. I used an older 1.3MP cam.
Your thoughts?

Very nice and neat! Now go that step further and do fan mods to the things you haven't. The standard fan on the vga cooler is probably the noisiest thing there and you should rip it off and put a quiet 80mm case fan somehow blowing onto it or put a completely silent zalman heatpipe cooler on it. The zalman 92mm fan can easily enough be replaced with a 92mm Nexus and the PSU fan can also be swapped. Of course you don't need any of these things, but they're all the obvious changes for the silencing addiction we all have
One thing about buying all these nice new shiny quiet fans is they can be used in any rig afterwards, not just here.

Lookin' good so far.
You don't want to use those snap-in things for fans.
You know, the purple plastic...
Get some fan isolators and mount those fans that way.
That will cut down on vibration resonance.
Suspending your hard drive will cut down on the most vibration.
Here is a thread of hdd suspension:

That should help you get some ideas.

Seems like a decently not too noisy-ish system..
However, depending on how severe your case of 'the silence bug' is, you might be astounded how much more silent it can become!
I thought I was 'ok' with the noise of my old PC, with a 12v 80mm (3000 rpm) PSU fan and a 4500rpm 60mm taisol fan on the CPU. Then I put bigger, lower speed fans in the same system. Wow.. However, somehow... ... need.... less.. noise... must... be... even .. more.. silent (etc)
Then temperature probes came, HD suspension happened, heatsinks got better, Fans got slower, and after the first 'wow' I'm another 'wow' factor further..
You could say that when you're happy with the noise levels, the situation is 'ok' and there is no need for further silencing.. However, once you've experienced a far more silent system, perhaps you'd re-evaluate your views on how happy you are with the first attempt.
I do think that with some of us here (including me for sure!) noise tends to get a bit too much of an obsession. I could barely hear the computer and could easily sleep next to it. After that, the few dba I won where more 'wasted time and money' than real functional value.
In that respect its probably good to draw the line somewhere, but still its good human nature to be curious on how things are beyond that line..
