Coolermaster new Sleeve Bearing 120mm LED fans : Mini-review
Hi all,
I just purchased (in the span of two weeks), a Nexus 120mm, two SilenX 120mms, and the new Coolermaster SLEEVE BEARING 120mm LED fan (for the bling!)
I am surprised as ever.
The Nexus is $26 Canadian, the SilenX $29.99 Canadian, and the CoolerMaster $9.95 Canadian.
The Nexus is the quietestst 12v, FOLLOWED BY THE COOLERMASTER, THEN the SilenX. If you 8-9V the CoolerMaster it is acoustically the same as the Nexus, and provides a higher CFM. There is NO BEARING NOISE AT ALL, just airflow noise. My temperatures dropped about 1-2C after swapping from a SilenX at 7V to the Coolermaster at 8-9V, and it seems quieter even! (This is a XP-120 setup)
So, I highly suggest this new Coolermaster product. I have been dismayed in the past by their products ('revolutionary' Rifle Bearing) but this new fan really is silent. I will be purchasing a few more in the next few days since they're just so awesome.

the coolermasters are definitely great fans.
i have to chime in though and say that i got two blue-uv 120mm coolermasters from svc (suf-s12-eb), and they both exhibited bearing noise, still audible at 5 volts from 1 metre away. the noise is much quieter than the motor noise from my panaflos and nmbs, but it's still there. i seem to be the odd one out though, as most everyone else who's gotten these fans haven't had any such noise - i'd say the odds are as good as 9 out of 10 to receive a good coolermaster. heck the ones i have would be great for a system in the low 20 dba region, they're still quieter than most of the fans i have even with the bearing noise.
seeing as you can find them for $6 or so in the usa, they're a steal.

I recieved 2 of these fans about a month ago, and they are LED versions of the nexus, not literally of course, but theyre really a dream, its about time a high quality LED fan came along. I LOVE these fans and there is no doubt they are of good quality, at 7v they exhibit no practical bearing noise that I could hear, that was testing using a passive test PSU, and a room deep inside my house where ambient noise is verrrrry low. These are some great fans, order them if you havent already.
