HELP! Whats better than a Silent Drive 2002 enclosure?

Post by luminous » Wed Jun 01, 2005 1:13 pm

I've really had it :(

This is my 6th HDD in 2 years, I only want 2 that work properly (ie no idle whine). I just cannot find a pair of silent drives.

Idle whine is my biggest bug bear :(

I have tried WD, IBM, Seagate, Samsung and now a DM10.

Only one of my 3 Samsungs is quiet enough, the others were terrible.

All drives have been suspended in SilentMax Drive enclosure. Still the idle whine comes through.

I cannot afford to purchase ANOTHER drive. So what can I do to sort out the idle whine problem? Needs to be reasonably simple, preferrably an off the shelf product.

Mmm, looks like a nice product, but according to the review, its not the best that is out there.

I've got an old smart drive in another machine. I may see if that is any better at sorting out this idle whine than the Silent Max
