new record in power draw: Pentium EE + 7800 GTX SLI
Have a look at the two pictures: http://www.hardwareluxx.de/cms/artikel. ... 90&seite=5
Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.73 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB
ASUS P5ND2-SLI Deluxe
2 x 512 MB TwinMos PC3200 CL2,5
Maxtor 7B250S0
NEC DVD RW ND-3520A
Hiper 550W-Netzteil
whole system idle: 255W
whole system load: 444W
Is this a new record or are you aware of something even more power-hungry?

Re: new record in power draw: Pentium EE + 7800 GTX SLI
I'd just like to point out that GF 6800 Ultra consumes more power than the new 110nm 7800 part. A system with 2 6800U's in SLI would be the most power hungry setup on desktop today.
You know what I did? I bought a puny Asus 9250 graphics card, because I was sure it would use far less power than my Abit 9600XT (with the blue LED fan and super heatsink), and guess what?
It uses more friggin power. I don't even know how that could be possible, because the A9250 heatsink seems just warm. I've done most of my power measurements with the XT fan disconnected, but I don't think that counts for much.

my friend has a light processor on his desk for 2 years now.
what's with all these retarded small advances in chip design? its all a show. they keep it to the same design upon agreement, and fight to figure out how to make a new small advance on an archaic chip. If we actually had the real 1 watt chips that didnt use electricity but light instead, and all the other types of technology, we would never need to buy a new cpu for many years, but they want to rip you off and me off, so the pepsi coke battle for years and give us 2 frames of speed each 100 dollars of chip increase. I bet we could have 1 million frames if the 2 companies werent thieves. Oh, im sure people will comment, "if one company had it, they'd show it" of course that statement means they dont want to make a continual flow of billions of dollars, and just benefit society for a moment and retire a mere billionaire instead of a trillionaire.
not gona do it
