I've finished my last test yesterday with the Scythe Katana CU with stock fan at low/high, my reference Delta 92mm at low/high, the CPU at stock vs overclocked, and the HSF mounted towards the rear and also towards the top. For its small size it offers a remarkable performance/noise ratio; not bad.

The Mine is on par with Ninja when fans are used, the Tuniq Tower has a small lead when fans are used, but with low RPM fans / passive cooling the Ninja rules still bigtime.

that's what I can remember of the top of my head from the results obtained in the last 2 weeks of testing:)

Sounds good, I look forward to the article. I wonder at what RPM the Ninja stat to pull ahead. I am not looking to run passive or a Delta, but at the same time, I won't be going with a Nexus at 5V. More like a Yate Loon at 12 or 7V (around 1000 RPM).

the Papst 120mm reference fan I'm using runs at ~1200rpm at 12v and ~700rpm at "low" speed setting

Is the height really 150mm or a few mm shorter? Also, is the fan touching the fins during operation?

I could fit a 140mm onto the Mine inside an Antec Sonata, the Tuniq Tower 120 was a tighter fit.

no touchie touchie of the fan blades on the Mine; also ducting this unit will increase noise generation a lot, making it not worth the drop the temperature.

Edit: Oops, mistake. I was charging the Mine with a "fit" problem that exists with another make and model of HSF, and so does not belong here. Sorry.

Is there anyway to reduce the height of the Scythe Mine (or the Scythe Ninja)?
