Leadtec 7950 GT 512 and NV Silencer 5 Rev 3. Will it fit ?

Post by Paul Mahtews » Mon Nov 06, 2006 7:11 pm

Its going into an Antec Overture 2 case. Just want to replace the horrible Heatsink and fan on the card. It blows hot air INTO the case ?????

I'am pretty sure it will fir into the case just not sure if it will fir the card as on the Artic site it says nothing about 7950 :)

Thanks if you can help. This card gets to 70c plus at lead and thats a NO NO. it aint even overclocked yet :p

Thanks.

Welcome to SPCR!!!

I think that the 7950GT has the same layout as the 7900GT. The hole pattern and RAM placement is the same as the 7800GT the NV Silencer 5 R3 was made for, but the card is shorter, so to get it to fit, you need to saw off a bit of the plastic exhaust duct, an easy mod.

Check the forums if you like, there's already been plenty of discussion about cooling for the 7900GT.

Already bought :)

Was the sawing to fit the card or the case ???

I hope i don't have to saw nothing. I saw someone post it fitted and did not say they had to saw anything. Heres hoping.

My Antec Overture 2 case can't take the heat :(

70+ at load is not good for a desktop case.

Thanks.

I made the effort of using the search function to find my old post, so this might be a bit more explicit:

I got this from this forum.

70+ at load is ok for a graphics card, if it's your CPU, it's a bit on the hot side...

OH MY GOD :(

I hope i don't have to circumsize my GPU cooler like that :)

Anyway ill just have to wait and see i guess. Its reversable, I can just glue it back on if i need it back.

Its worth it to get that thing on my 7950 gt though.

Thanks.
