Hi All
Ive recently tried to cut a hole in my side panel for a window.
Things did not go too well and am wondering if I was to leave the side panel off would I still need the case fans running?

Turning off fans and leaving the case open is not always the best solution for cooling. Sometimes the way the air flows through a properly ventilated case with the door on provides better cooling than with the door off due to the door providing some direction for the airflow rather than letting it disperse. You may want to test your temps (@ idle and load) with the door and fans off as well as a test with the side panel covered (cardboard would work) and your fans back on.Richards wrote:Thanks for that the casefan seems redundant now.
Leaving the door/panel off certainly provides an outlet for the sound from your other components (HDD, PSU, HSF) to escape into your working environment.
