Laptop hard drives in a desktop?

Post by djkest » Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:39 am

Just wondering what cables you guys use for your laptop hard drives in a desktop computer. Doesn't look like my laptop hard drive has the standard connectors on the back. I'll need power and signal, of course. I checked a few places and they dont' stock such cables. This is for a 5 year old ATA/100 hard drive, if that matters.

I found this one, is this what everyone here uses? I'm surprised, if it is.

That is the kind of adapter you need to use.

As you have discovered, IDE (PATA) 3.5 and 2.5 inch HDDs use different connectors. SATA drives use the same connector.
