A Antec NeoHE product line comparison?

Post by Torajirou » Wed Oct 17, 2007 10:40 am

I love Antec NeoHE PSUs since I realised they allow you to create an artificial separation between your PSU and the rest of your case with a standard layout (by using a duct, as in SPCR Model One).

What remains unclear to me, is how getting a higher-power model can help further reduce the noise. From what I read in another review, the 550W is quieter than the 430W at equal load. Now I see a 650W model has been released... I'd really like to see what it can do.

I'd love to se reviews of the newer corsair PSU's the VX550 and the TX750.

Being maid by another OEM their is no definative answer to exactly how quiet they are. I've witnessed 2 TX750 PSU's brought in the UK and they where both way off the 18dba upto 375watts specs on the box which is very unlike corsair. Hopefully their are good ones about or a new revision and mike gets a goodin.

I dunno if this topics dead ... but I'll just try:

BeQuiet is releasing the new Dark Power Pro P7 Series on the 4th of january. Its the first Dark Power Pro with AC Input ranging from 100 to 240 Volts - so its an interesting product for the american market.

Some shops on the internet already got em on stock.
A review in the near future would be really nice.

Another Tagan manufacture BeQuiet that will break down before too long? YMMV, but I already had two tagans fail on me. Seasonics (out of tree used: none, fsp out of four used: none).

How about testing Be-Quiet's "Straight Power" line? Especially since they "claim" 83% efficiency?

Kudos

Write them and tell them to send samples. They sent one pair a year or 2 ago, but haven't said boo since.

the ZM850-HP is internally identical to the ZM1000-HP; there is no point doing another review.

I don't know how often Mike or any other reviewers check this thread, but I was wondering if there are any Blu-Ray drive reviews in the works? If I'm not mistaken, it's been almost 5 years since the last internal optical drive review

It seems like more and more people are building HTPCs and these drives are often by far the loudest component in a SPCR-patron's machine. With prices still well above CDN$100, I would imagine there are others with a discerning ear on a tight budget that would rather hold out until they have some info on their potential purchase rather than gambling that a drive is quiet.

+1 for PWM fans.

There are some other articles out there, but I would really like to see an SPCR assessment!

I'd love if spcr could review the new Antec CPX PSU and the Lian Li PC-A17 or PC-B10 cases.

I came here to check whats going on here at SPCR. Not much it seems. I think its a shame this thread is no longer used. It was a good idea and should be taken up again IMHO.

Can we expect a review of the P183 anytime soon? Preferably together with a PSU of the new form factor?

If the ATI 4770 will be reviewed then I'd really like to see how much it can be underclocked and undervolted in idle, especially if the idle power consumption is as bad as the initial reference card previews says.

Underclocking the GDDR5 apparently causes the screen to flicker, but users of other GDDR5 cards reports that it only does that for maybe a fraction of a second when switching, something most people could live with if it lowered the power consumption by 30-40 W.

Ditto

Especially the Mac Pros. It would be very interesting to see how the new 2009s are doing acoustically.

The 13 and 15" models were under the detection limit of c't recently (4 microphones, 1m, anechoic chamber). Can't remember whether that is true for load as well.

The last 17" MacPro they tested, however, didn't work that well - 3 Sone under load.

I'm also eagerly waiting for the review of Antec's CP-850... OTOH I'm not going to buy it until in the autumn so I can wait too :D

Is there a test of the Zalman CNPS 10x Quiet in the pipeline, by any chance? The Extreme's been tested so it would be a logical follow-on.

Is there going to be an update of the "Recommended Heatsinks" article to clarify which models are available for socket LGA 1156 CPUs? There hasn't been an update June 1, 2009 and none of the models state whether they can be used with this increasingly common CPU socket.

EDIT: in fact, now would be a good time to do a round up of the latest heatsinks for socket LGA 1156 - with the new i3s available it's going to be the most common Intel socket in new builds for the foreseeable future.

Thanks!
