We have a new puppy here

Post by _MarcoM_ » Sun Sep 07, 2008 6:11 am

Hi folks, look this:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_ ... 0&cl=gb,en

Nice, the white one is a good choice for my antec P150. Any first hand experience? Any review? I want to know if it is silent and confortable :)

Puppy?

Looks like a mouse to me.

Well, it is a mouce, but if I there were to be a 'most puppy-like mouse' award this one would probably win it.

I doubt it.

Nice looking mouse though. Just needs back/forward buttons on the side.

Yeah looks quite nice, although I'm not all that much of a fan of the shiny type of plastic ;-)

I ordered one of these here today (also quite new I think...at least I've never seen it before):

At 30$ it's also quite cheap for a lasermouse...just hope the quality of that fancy scrollwheel is up to scratch ;-)

Got the rx1500 today:

Pro:
- looks great
- comfortable shape
- mouswheel can be switched between free-wheeling and and "clicky" - so if you don't like clicky mouswheel this one is perfectly silent in free-wheeling mode.
- *very* precice, works perfectly on a wooden desk and is just as accurate as my g3.

Cons:
- standard mouse feet, rather noisy and doesn't glide as well as my logitech g3 when using it on on my wooden desk. Not problem on a mousepad though.
- Due to the nature of the mousewheel you can't middle-click with it (clicking it, which requires quite a bit more force than a normal mouseclick switches between free-wheeling and clicky), unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me, as a linux user a mouse without a middleclick is unusable for me. There's a button above the wheel which works as a middle click out of the box, but for a button I use all the time it's too akward to reach...

Overall a a very nice mouse, esp. for the price but the lacking middle-click is a problem...fortunately I only bought it for my laptop so I'll only use it rarely, but still...worst case I can always give it away to my sis or dad, they seem to wreck mice on a regular basis and don't even know that mice are supposed to have middle clicks ;-)

Let me know how good the puppy is, they're not available around here yet from what I can see, if it's good I might give it a try ;-)

You should google for uberoptions. With that, you can control every button on your mouse 10 times better, including the middle mouse wheel. You can set it to click and an other button to switch between states.

The switch on the wheel is purely mechanical to engage the clicky/non-clicky feature of the wheel, I really don't think it sends any signal to the computer at all and even if it did it requries way too much force to press for actual use as a button. No software app is going to help with that ;-)

That seems to be a windows app, not much use for a linux user even if the middle button would send a signal to his computer.
