WTF...MikeC wrote:3kg?
Do they really expect that heavy cooler is good for use with motherboard vertically?
Already PC "gaming enthusiasts" are doing their part in killing PC game markets by hyping necessarity of multiple graphic cards so do they have to do same for CPU HSFs?
If they want heaviest cooler for PR pissing contest why they don't just make some special edition/PR cooler from DU/U238!
I can’t see how it’s 3kg. The copper Ninja gains 70% in weight, over it’s original, but this weighs 400% more? Are some parts of the Copper Ninja only plated, where as this is solid copper?
When you use a mounting back-plate, to what extent does that increase the safe weight limit? Not to 3kg I bet.

The Rev b (the only one available at most places) comes with a fan, upping its weight to 815g from 665g. The copper version also comes with a fan, upping it to 1015g. Presuming the fan on the CU is the same that would mean the heatsink on its own weighs 865g, a 30% difference over the AL version.
Either way, this CU TRUE will not weigh 3kg.
If im not mistaken it would weigh about 3.3 times the original if the original was 100% aluminium and the dimensions were identical, based on comparing the density of alumium and copper.
The fins are alumium on the normal version, but the base and heatpipes are copper copper as far as i know. They just left out the nickel plating on this one, and made the dins out of copper. Anyone care to calculate the mass of the standard alumium fins? It's three in the mornin so i won''t bother.

As I asked before: where are you getting those numbers from? As stated on Scythes Euro site (and I’ve double checked elsewhere) the copper version, without fan, weighs 1015g. The fan adds an additional 115g. The standard Ninja weighs 640g without fan = +59%FartingBob wrote:The Rev b (the only one available at most places) comes with a fan, upping its weight to 815g from 665g. Btw, the copper version isn’t entirely copper. The small aluminium heatsink that sits on the base remains aluminium.

My usual shopping sites both listed the total weight as 1015g, and since it comes with a fan then i presumed that the fan was included in the weight. But yes, after checking the scythe's site they say just the body weighs 1015g, with the fan as extra. So your numbers are correct.Sooty wrote: As I asked before: where are you getting those numbers from? Nici, the heatsink would only weigh 3.3 times as much if the original was 100% aluminium (inc heatpipes, mounting etc), and the CU was 100% copper. But neither is true.

That cooler is not ment for cooling CPU's. Its either meant to put glass case with trophies or use as paper weight.
3 KG's on Motherboard... They're insane. I don't even want to thing how much torque that might give for PCB. Anyone who has tried to hold 3 KG to 3,5 KG'd on arms slightly bent its not easy. ( This to those members of Sa-Int who got rifle drilling with old fashion way and so forth )
