Reverse robbery - the banks have robbed us

Hello,

This may open your eyes!

[quote]Investigative reporter Danny Schechter has never been quiet about the slick ways of Wall Street and American finance. He won Emmys and was out front on the 1980s S&L crisis.

Now, he’s on fire with the story of American and global financial market meltdown and the machinations that preceded it. The “largest robbery in American history,â€

Ah yes, not learning even from his own personal history, let alone any business ethics classes, McCain gets yet another cease and desist letter from Jackson Browne

http://www.etaiwannews.com/etn/news_con ... ?id=748306

And the Foo Fighters

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/oc ... ohn.mccain
The saddest thing about this is that My Hero was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential,... To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song...
We already covered Hearts cease and desist order in a prior post, but I didn't realize John Cougar Mellencamp was yet another

Yes, this is the ethical standard we need in the US right now, a real moral leader.

Cheney gave an Executive Order for the NSA to bypass the FISA court -- and spy on Americans.

Well clearly this woman is not a liberal media person so she must be objective and fair minded, right?

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entert ... ara-w.html

Now normally it's fun to watch the politician make an arse out of themselves, but here well, this is a classic. I mean really, when you give a tax cut to the wealthy you're helping Americans, and when you give one to the middle class you're spreading the wealth/being a socialist? WTF?

Hiya,

Ted Stevens has been convicted on all 7 counts, of lying about receiving aver $250,000 is gifts.

Oops.

He could be sentenced up to 5 years for each felony count -- but giving a 35 year sentence to an 84 year old, 7 term Senator is probably not going to happen.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... d=96189065

Image

He is the senior Republican in the Senate, and he brought home more pork per person than anyone else -- including the "bridge to nowhere"; which Sarah Palin was for, before she was against it -- and the state kept the money...

Oh Neil did you catch Colbert today? He started with Stevens and the headline read "Baked Alaskan." That whole story was hysterical.

Then he covered all the people who have been calling Obama a socialist by inviting on the show the actual candidate for socialist party (that probably should be capitalized but too bad). I mean the guy must know what he's in for as Colbert greets him, "Let me say I hate everything you stand for and welcome to the show." Then this guy tries to make his point about socialism in between numerous Colbert jabs, even he's laughing. He finally says what's going on is called "Red baiting." He explains the financial bailout and how eventually the government will get back the money it's loaning out, but then I think "Like the way we have been repaid by France after WWII??" I had to stick at least one little jab in there.

Actually, France paid back 20% of the total aid given by the USA. The rest was a donation by the American government. So technically, we're even
(Sorry, just me beeing french)

And I LOVE Colbert. He's so out of it and smart at the same time !!! I watch him almost every night :)

As far as corruption is concerned, I'd say that until the people start doing something about it (first step is to vote), nothing will ever change. Normal people like me (us?)are just way out of the system these people are in. IMO, we have NO idea how widespread it really is... saddly...

Blackwater...ooo boy...

Post by NeilBlanchard » Fri Nov 14, 2008 7:59 pm

Hiya,
A federal grand jury in North Carolina is investigating allegations the controversial private security firm Blackwater illegally shipped assault weapons and silencers to Iraq, hidden in large sacks of dog food, ABCNews.com has learned.

Under State Department rules, Blackwater is prohibited from using certain assault weapons and silencers in Iraq because they are considered "offensive" weapons inappropriate for Blackwater's role as a private security firm protecting US diplomatic missions.

"The only reason you need a silencer is if you want to assassinate someone," said former CIA intelligence officer John Kiriakou, an ABC News consultant.
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=6254508&page=1

They also have 6 employees under investigation for possible manslaughter -- they shot at least 17 Iraqi civilians "in self-defense".

And we, the US taxpayers are paying Blackwater a lot of money: 250 million a year for 5 years for just one contract in Iraq.

A quote from Dick Cheney in:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28338533/
Biden has not asked for any advice about being vice president. Biden has called Cheney "the most dangerous vice president we've had probably in American history." Cheney strongly disagreed with the assertion and said he doesn't think Obama will give Biden as consequential a role as Cheney has had under Bush.
Does that mean the US won't sell Halliburton almost another trillion dollars over the next 7 years? Well won't that be a horrible shame. Like, I'm all busted up that won't happen again.
did not regret using an obscenity beginning with "f" in an exchange with Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., on the Senate floor in June 2004. "I thought he merited it at the time," Cheney said with a chuckle in the interview. "And we've since, I think, patched over that wound and we're civil to one another now."
Yeah well there are millions of US patriotic citizens who would like to see you charged and jailed as well. They aren't chuckling either, but we're all sure that situation will never be patched up.

We can only hope you're dumb enough to set foot off of US soil next year.

Well if you don't like Faux News you can always read Newsweak. What a pathetic rag that thing has become, or was it always like that?
One of Cheney's first acts as vice president was to convene an energy policy task force, inviting energy company lobbyists to suggest a package of tax breaks and other incentives for their companies.

Yeah lobbyists sure help the country don't they?

Number of people in jail? Zero

Number of people arrested? Zero

And the ridiculous irony in the above article is S&P and Moody's downgrading Greek and Spanish bonds, the same companies that told everyone those garbage mortgage backed securities were safe in the first place. What's wrong with this picture?
