thermalright xp-90 on AM2+ mobo

Post by fanerman91 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 1:12 pm

I have an XP-90 lying around. It seems like a perfectly capable heatsink. Enough for a Phenom II (no OC) with a Panaflo 80L on top, yes?

The AM2+ mobo has 4 screws to connect the retention plate right (while a S754/939/940 has 2 screws)?

So, to fit the XP-90 on an AM2+ mobo, I'd have to get something like:

or

Would either work? I have this motherboard in mind:

I don't think it'll work (for that motherboard). Look at the top view of the mobo, there's a capacitor in the corner that might get in the way.

Alright thanks. I decided to avoid any compatibility issues and just got a Xigmatek HDT-S1283. It looks like it's working great.

The XP-90 would have cooled any CPU you could put under it. Pity it clashed with that board.

No worries. If things work out, I'll probably have an old cpu/mobo (Athlon 64) that needs a heatsink so the XP-90 should be good to go.
