I heard something about sometime longer initialize procedure on some EcoGreenF1, but that's F2, right?

For one second longer? I've count 6 periods in this sound. The same as mine, but double longer. Is it disturbing? Do you hear it distinctly? Have you checked the drive for bad sectors? I can recommend Victoria for this purpose.
Never heard such sound in idle... As the HD502HI is very silent drive, I'm not sure if I can hear it even intentionally lending an ear to.

Can you try suspending it and tell us whether the sound is still there?
I have the F2 currently mounted with Nexus DoubleTwin on upper bay of NSK3480. I also had it inside Scythe box that was sitting on floor. I don't believe that different kind of mounting will eat the noise delta between F2 seek and idle. I guess WD20EADS is a bit too expensive right now, so I'm going to keep the Samsung for couple of months.
I also have the "rattling sound" on two F2 drives, just like in the recording.
It seems to be firmware related because I just bought an F1 7200 Samsung drive (dated 2009.06) and that also has this noise. Other F1 drives I have with earlier firmware do not have this issue. All drives pass the ESTool tests.

I ordered 500Gt F2 drive today, but I began to wonder is the 1T drive as quet as the smaller one?
Here in Finland the 500Gt drive costs 46-58€ and the bigger terabyte drive cotst 72-82€. I will test the 500Gt drive as soon as I get it, but if I conclude it to be silent enough, can I order the larger terabyte F2 drive and count on it's silence too?

My 500G samsung makes exactly the same clunk-click sound at startup. There is a few seconds delay with this noise whilst the drive calibrates ? This I don't mind.. but was very worrying at first. BTW my 1T eco drive in a caddie does exactly the same thing.
However in low use the drive will make a clunk at certain times.. seems random. Like head parking. It can do this if watching a movie or playing some music stored on and playing from the drive. This is really annoying but I guess in a regular non quite pc you would not hear it.
I have run samsung hdtool and no errors reported but I never ran a full surface test.
Also due to the 3-5s start-up delay (calibration noise) the spin up time gets logged in smart at 93 and not 100 which is the default. This is the same value as someone else posted earlier with a screen cap of their smart data.

This means that some windows based smart tools like active disk monitor for example that display a nice noob health bar for overall smart health... the bar is not at 100% but less due to this delayed spin-up time if that makes sense. I can post a cap if required.
Pitty as these drives are great in every other respect. Can't wait to ditch mechanical hard disks one day !!
