The easiest way of explaining the dilemma over flat screen monitors is this page from a UK web review site which shows their best performing models ranked by score http://www.trustedreviews.com/filter/mo ... ubmit.y=13.

The first 4 places are filled by (price in US $):
1. HP DreamColor LP2480zx 24" $3,250
2. HP LP2475w 24" $694
3. BenQ FP241W 24" $1052
4. ViewSonic VX2260wm 22" $285

The monitor that is closest to what you have now is the ViewSonic VX2260wm, this was the one mentioned earlier in the thread. Apart from the slightly larger screen size, the others are more expensive because the type of panel they use is better but it becomes a question of how much money do you want to pay, and what are you using the monitor for.

For watching movies, the Viewsonic would be fine and I'm pretty sure you could get it for less than the $285 equivalent we pay here in the UK. On the other hand if you want to make movies then the HP DreamColor is the way to go.

Where do I find these codes? This pair has expired. I found some sites that list some codes, and some send me back to the section on Dell with the codes, but so far every code I input either failed with an error or was accepted but didn't change the price.

btw, do you think i can use the viewsonic as a TV?

It has both DVI and HDMI inputs so you could hook it up to anything that has HDMI output including an HD TV tuner, or DVD/Blu-Ray player for movies.

HDMI carries the audio as well as the picture, and will use the built-in speakers of the Viewsonic. These speakers are of about the same quality as the integrated speakers of a TV of the same size.

Edit: One of the nice things about the Viewsonic is that is has an 3.5mm audio out jack. So you could use a 3.5mm cable to channel the sound into your PC speakers, or you could plug in some headphones.

The Dell U2410 can't be seen on the Dell website yet but with some fooling around you can get one in your cart and there's a 20% coupon out there for it. $479 shipped.
