I hope it will be quiet enough

thanks a lot...
Thats what I wrote initially. After that I spent a week looking for aftermarket cooler options, because stock cooler is not good enough. It can be heard in idle and its annoying under load or when power management doesn't work. Its good enough compared to some other stock turbines, but not good for SPCR.alecmg wrote:OK, first impressions
On idle its almost silent. Default 35% fan about 1300rpm and you can hear it, barely, over other slow fans. On 20% and 900 rpm - perfect.
On load fan ramps up fast to keep temps under 70. At 50% starts to disturb even in headphones
Accelero L2 sounds like a good fit, but its all out of stock here

I did this mod, my S1 was a mess so I removed the pipe closests to the PCI bracket. Resuts are great, but it looks like shitNo, the gpu is too close to PCI bracket so S1 won't fit without heavy modding.

fan is there because i cant read VRM temps, just to be safe
It wasn't enough to just cut the blades as close to the heatsink as possible? It seems like the placement is retty similar to the 4770, and on that its enough to just cut the fins, and not the pipe.leifeinar wrote:I did this mod, my S1 was a mess so I removed the pipe closests to the PCI bracket. AtW
5770 has 4-pin PWM header and so does L2
It defaults to 35%, roughly 1300rpm
The most I 've seen it spin up was 41% at 55C. At load with overclock. Not obtrusive at all, easily quieter than stock cooling at idle.
Didn't try to limit it yet. But far spaced fins tell me it should work with slowed down fan as well.
At 20% its at ~1100 rpm

That is quite possibly the most ghetto looking mod I have ever seen; I love it.leifeinar wrote:I did this mod, my S1 was a mess so I removed the pipe closests to the PCI bracket. Resuts are great, but it looks like shit

It really is a thing of beauty, you've done just about every mod I can think of. You have the "J" bend, you clipped the fins and even a pipe. To top it off, you cut up a $20 fan and zip-tied it to the heat-sink!
It is just pure awesomeness I tell you, pure awesomeness.

xbitlabs has reviewed the 5770 and 5750

I think this one is the graph which everyones' been waiting for.

Its a noctua with the U.L.N.A adapter, ill guess its arround 600rpm. max temp is 60 celsius. but really think i dont need the fan, the card is very cool, I figure its less than 100W.How low rpm can you run the fan on before it gets very hot?
Power draw is 168W, during 3dmark and 100% cpu load. @ 83% psu efficiancy, the system uses 140W
TSMC still dealing with low 40nm yields..expect them to improve in q1 2010...which means low availability and high prices until q2 2010 for us.
