Mini p180 revision in the works?

Post by limee » Thu Mar 11, 2010 9:12 am

I've been looking for the mini p180 recently and a lot dealers have said supplies are halted right now...does anyone know if there is a new revision on the way or what's going on with it?

I'm wondering the same thing ....

I'm putting together a new build with this case in mind. It was hard to find <$100 shipped.

Back in Jan. Newegg had this case on a Shellshocker deal, $50AR shipped. I happened to be building a budget gaming rig for a buddy at the time, so I snapped up that p180 mini as soon as I saw it. I have the p182 myself, which is ok IMO(got it for $67AR on a MC special), so I was happy to get my friend a quality case w/o breaking the budget.

I LOVED that case. The features, the appearance, everything. Better than my 182. For $50AR this was an absolute steal! I'm still kicking myself for not getting two. Fast forward to now and I'm building a new rig for myself, and this is the only case I've been trying to get.

It seemed to be OOS everywhere, and it took me a while to find one. I was not about to pay north of a hundred bucks total. Finally scored one at Axiontech.

But that got me thinking ....... maybe a new p183 mini on the horizon? I'm interested.

A. $64.99 is a steal! (The 3480 is still $89.99)

B. I thought I heard (here, by Antec)) that they are updating it similarly to the P183 Rev2... allowing for better SSD mounting and holing out the backplane for CPU bolt-thru kits without needing to remove the board.

Yeah, $64.99 for the white version. The black one is $99 + shipping.

I'll be very interested to see what they change if the rumors of a new revision are indeed true.

Response

I posted a question re the future of the p180 mini a few days ago over at [H]ardocp, and today I got a response directly from an Antec rep(I assume)
Hi Low Roller!

The P180 mini is not being discontinued, well at least not in the next 3 months. I'm assuming that people like the black p180 mini compare to the white P180 mini which isn't surprising to me. We did upgrade our Old Lanboy case with Lanboy Air and we have the Dark Fleet case series coming out next month so those are probably the only cases we are upgrading/releasing within the next 3 months.

Please let me know if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them.

Regards,
Antec
This is good news! :D
