Fudzilla (I know not he best place for news but they have been right on many ocasions) reports that Intel will have a Sandy Bridge quad with TDP of 35W.
Sounds very promising methinks :)

Not believable. If they target the market that wants quad-core, they should increase the speed and the power consumption.
Maybe one more generation ahead (22nm) and you'll have this because it should make quad-core mainstream.

Rest assured, Intel is maximizing their revenue - and they have no loyalty to any particular segment of the market, even yours. They don't care about you, honest.

They have a good plan to accomplish their financial objectives with a line a cpus that will make it difficult for AMD to dig out of their hole.

35W for a desktop quad, for servers maybe and they'll probably cost $500 a piece. I reckon us lowly mortals will get something nearer the 95W TDP current quads use if we want something in a reasonable price range.

I believe those wattage numbers are for the mobile chips.

It looks like they are basically sticking to the current TDPs but executing more instructions per clock cycle.
