Good value Tower AM2 CPU cooler

Post by Shai-tan » Mon May 03, 2010 5:03 am

Hi Guys,
Anyone know of a good value Tower CPU cooler for AM2 that can be turned 90% so its in east/west configuration? Not really interested in spending too much.

Cheers,

I've summarized a list of AMD correct orientation for myself, and I think it will give you a hand as well.

Noctua NH-U12P
Zerotherm Zen
Scythe Ninja 2
Scythe Mugen 2
Scythe Katana 3
2PCOM 1264U
OC3 Red Sea
JP 1366/1366S
Coolermaster 212PLUS
Coolermaster TX3
Arctic cooling Freezer 64 Pro PWM

That's what I've used and confirmed before. I hope it will do you good.

If you plan on going with passive cooling, you can add the Thermalright HR-01 plus to the list. The new AM2/AM3 bolt through mount rev. 2 allows for 90* rotation.

Any S775 cooler + Xigmatek ACK775 bolt thru kit (ACK775 "converts" the mounting holes for AM2/AM3 to S775 holes.

Dammit I can't find one in NZ lol. Actually, searching google for ACK775 bolt through doesn't give me the results I need.

Can you send me a link to the product so I can possibly get some more details to find one here in NZ.

I recommend the Hyper 212 Plus:

May want to replace the fan though, it's a bit on the lousy side noise-wise.

Yes, as Lawrence Lee said, 212 Plus's fan is pretty mediocre in terms of sound performance. It spins too fast and loud by SPCR standard.
