what do you use for a dust filter?

i would like to put a dust filter in my computer where i just opened a hole. I was wondering what you would recommend to use as a dust filter?

Light spacious fabrics work nicely. Pantyhose was all the rage some years ago, but raid the nearest sewing/cloth store and you should find something easier to work with, and you might find a matching color or even a cool pattern. Most premade filters are a bit too dense for low speed fans imo.
Some very thin and open foams like speaker covering material can work too if you can find them cheap.

I use the 3M filtrete product designed for air conditioners. I just cut it out and put it behind the existing wire mesh filters in my P183. That way you can vacuum the mesh several times before you need to change the filter. (I use the same method for the air conditioners too.)

I use a mosquito net (the one that's made to be attached/taped to windows). It can be folded to multiple layers to achieve higher density, if desired.

There is also a whole line of DEMCiflex Dual 120mm Magnetic Dust / Fan Filter (different colors, sizes and shapes) that might work if you have a steel case, but the Modrights are better in my opinion

The other alternatives are good only if you are into "ghetto" style cases.

For those intakes where a stock filter won't fit (e.g. above rear expansion slots, or an odd-sized hole), used dryer sheets will do the job.

its a fabric sheet that you toss in your dryer to reduce static cling, some are scented too.

The "used" aspect is key, as those don't have the scent or waxy coating.
