Fan Controller recommendations for 3 & 4 pin fans?

Post by FlexiPack » Thu Oct 13, 2011 11:17 am

I've been looking at fan controllers, not all of them do 3pin & 4pin fans. I need one that will control my 4pin CPU fan as well as my 2x 3pin case fans. I'd like one that shows RPM's, has automatic and manual control and only takes up 1 5.25" bay (as I have an Antec P180 mini case). Here's what I've looked at so far:

Zalman ZM-MFC3 - http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/produc ... es/zm-mfc3 - No auto control and can't turn off the LCD which might be annoying.

NZXT Sentry 2 - http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/fan_control/sentry_2 - Doesn't show RPM's

Scythe Kaze - http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/produc ... aze-master - No Auto control.

Has anyone used any of these? I could manage without auto control but would like it if possible.

Thanks

I use Kaze Masters (two different versions that are similar) in two builds, and they're fine. They look pretty IMO, and fit in nicely with the Solo color scheme. A fan failed on the older build recently, and the Kaze Master actually made an alarming tone, until I turned the fan knob off. I hadn't realized that it had that feature.

I tend to change the settings only with the seasons.

I use the Kaze Master only with 3-pin case fans, using the mobo's automatic PWM control for the CPU fan.

Sentry 2 for me, you can disable the beep noise it does when you press keys, can disable the lcd altogether, control 2/3pin fans (4 pins fans are for mobo only anyways), has worked reliably thus far, 1year of use.Don't show rpm's but i don't think that's very useful.
has more options like temp max reach/adjust rpm function but never used/tested
