RIP Grooveshark - where to go now?

Post by Pappnaas » Fri May 01, 2015 11:51 pm

Grooveshark has officially been taken offline for legal reasons. Sad but true.

Where to go now is the question? I don't want to pay a monthly fee if possible (my own budget is kind of thight  )

If you can stand the occasional advert, Spotify is a freemium product.

I'm also sad about this, but they dug their own grave.

Believe it or not, justin timberlake's refresh of myspace has some cool tunes on it.
Slacker is also decent.

Spotify Free is free, obviously, although it has its limitations.

Spotify Premium is free for the first two months, you can always switch to the Free version before that.

There's also Spotify Unlimited, it's hidden on their site, but I could downgrade to it last summer, €5/month. Dunno if it still works.

Yes, I'm talking about Spotify as if it's the only thing that exists, but that's because I've used it for a while.
There are of course other alternatives, but I have no experience with them.

I would also opt for Spotify.

It's too bad Grooveshark shut down. They had user uploads, so there was some very unusual and interesting stuff on there.
