Graphical Production Comparison - SPCR vs KWSN

Post by Zyzzyx » Thu Feb 05, 2004 2:20 pm

Ok... We've had our fun with the Mac folks, and there's a fair chance that we'll be playing with them again.

But... lets set our sights down the road a bit more, see how we're comparing to our old friends, the Knights.

Well, I wonder how long it will take them to notice?

Obviously, I haven't been around long enough to know the history behind the knights. At least, I hope there's a history given the evident animosity that both SPCR and Team Mac have towards them.

I just can't get all that excited when (at current rates), it's going to take between mid-2005 (daily rate) and late-2047 (weekly rate) to catch them.

But maybe someone can enlighten me :?:

dasman,
  • There are nearer goals, but they seem "foregone," inasmuch as we will catch AnandTech, EOC, and the "Cows" merely by "keepin' on keepin' on". Those teams don't provide any particular "challenge." (Assuming the continuation of current trends)
  • The knights "took a piss" as they passed through, so it would be gratifying to catch them.
  • Based on our daily rate, the date has already advanced to Dec of this year. Assuming this is the beginning of a "trend" and not just a fluke alignment of the planets, and that we can recruit some new members and increase our production, that date could easily creep into September or August. That'd be a nice long-term goal to shoot for.
We aren't limited to just one goal at a time. Perhaps Zyzzyx could be convinced to do a graph with EOC and the Dutch Power Cows. Can the graphs have more than two teams? I don't mean to "dis" AnadTech, but we are overtaking them at 7.5K points per day and their production is on the decline.

I think Anandtech is focusing more on SETI@Home right now...check out this news post. There could be a similar reaction for F@H when we get close (or rather when MacOS X get close before us). I wouldn't write them off quite yet - like MacOS X they'd have a very large base of potential users to call upon.

Interesting to see the kinghts have a SETI team by the way... and they're in 10th place too.

nap_loaf, yes indeed, my mistake for looking past AnandTech. I wonder how many PPW they have working on the seti project? I.e. how many F@H PPW they would gain if everyone running seti were to switch to F@H. According to that thread, seti will be ending soon.

I tried to find their posts here in this forum but it seem a lot has been deleted or something, I could only find one thread : http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=5091

And it's all gone on their forum as well: http://kwsnforum.com/viewforum.php?f=6

When they're about to overtake a team, they invade their forum to "taunt" them. I think they can be absolulately hilarious. They're basically trying to piss you off in a humorous way to challenge you into a race. And we're still racing with them. :) I'm looking forward to fart (read the thread) at them as soon as the overtake date is getting into a reasonable distance.

Here's another example on another team's forums. http://www.pcabusers.net/forums/showthr ... adid=27388

(edit: who posted while I was still busy with my usual 23x editing of my post? :))

I agree -- they are funny  . I look forward to their return.

As for their spamming into other forums on the board -- while I can see why it got them temporarily banned, it also probably got a few people to join the cause that normally don't visit the folding forum.

That's what got me here, haysdb call to arms post in the general forum (which I think ended up being moved here) piqued my interest. I'd never travelled into this section prior to that (didn't even know what F@H was). A little "judicious" spamming isn't always a bad thing (as long as it's not a viagra ad in my inbox )

Dave

I may even have to visit their forum and taunt them with:

"We are now...no longer the Knights Who Say 'Ni.'"--Head Knight
"Ni! Shh!"--Knights of Ni
"Shh! We are now the Knights Who Say 'Ecky-ecky-ecky-ecky-pikang-zoop-boing-goodem-zoo-owli-zhiv.'"--Head Knight

or maybe after we pass them, lob a:

"And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

at 'em... Mah

btw, MikeC later explained that their ban here was an accident. They started to create some noise on the other forums here, which wasn't being appreciated. MikeC banned them without knowing who they were and what was going on here on the folding forum. They were unbanned a few days later.

We welcome all quiet people to our forum. We are just a very small group of morons who try to cause discontent as we pass through the ranks. Our presence almost always causes a large increase in F@H production

Ahem ! We do more than "try" to sow discontent.....we do it every time :D !!! And, inevitably, the other team makes a "call to arms" and then subsequently kicks our butts. Do we care ? Hell, no. (Well, maybe we do a little). Why don't we care ? Cuz we're MORONS  !!!

It seems that your taunting woke them from our slumber. I need some time to recover from The Attack of the Come Hither Bea Arthur's. I'm still having nightmares. But I'll be back to rouse the KWSN from their Rip Van Winkle slumber and launch some 'it' at them! :D

Not really. :?
Hardly any response: http://kwsnforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2961

Or could it be that it is only fun for them when *they* are the ones that are producing more? :D;)

Things have been quiet over on the homefront :( . We're at our best when we're in close competition with another team, but right now all we have near us are those despicable SAGoons :x .

We're dormant right now, but never forget we have many secret weapons at our disposal. Weapons of Mass Destruction you might call them. You've seen only one of them: The Come Hither Look of Bea Arthur  !!! http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=10162

We have others that are worse :? . Much worse . Ever seen Ernest Borgnine......... IN DRAG  ?!!!!!

Fear us  .
