i had recently bought a abit kv7, but it crashes every time i watch a avi movie. i've tried to fix it but no sucsess, so rather then loose my sanity,

I suggest you buy the abit NF7-S rev2.0 . It's the BEST mobo I ever had. Specially when overclocking.
I use my Barton 2500+ AQXE with a Thermalright SLK900(A) and overclocked it. The core speed went up to 2004.6 MHz from the default 1837.7 MHz with a Multiplier Factor by 10 and setting the CPU Core Voltage into 1,525.
This mobo is good as most members recommended.

IMPORTANT! If you buy the NF7-S 2.0 and a Zalman 7000-AlCu, you will have to snip off a piece of the heat sink's mounting clip, as per this picture.
